Terms
These terms cover the website and the hosted service. If you self host, your rights come from the licence instead, and they are broader than anything here.

Who you are agreeing with
Gatewerk is operated by Idris Idriszade, an individual trading as a sole proprietor in Texas, United States. In these terms that person is "we". Reach us at hello@gatewerk.com.
You do not need our permission and these terms do not restrict you. The server is AGPL-3.0, the client libraries are Apache-2.0, and there is no licence check, no seat limit and no paid tier inside the software. Run it for a team of one or a team of five hundred. See the licensing page for the detail.
Your account
You need to be old enough to enter a contract where you live. Keep your sign in details to yourself, and tell us if you think someone else has them. What happens under your account is your responsibility.
You can close your account from inside the app whenever you like. We can suspend an account that is being used to break the law, to attack the service, or to harm other people using it. If we ever do that we will tell you why.
Your content stays yours
Everything you put into Gatewerk belongs to you. You give us permission to store and display it only so far as running the service requires. We do not use it to train models and we do not sell it. That permission ends when you delete the content or close your account.
You are responsible for what you put in. Do not upload things you have no right to, and do not use Gatewerk to break the law.
Paying
Self hosting is free and always will be. The hosted service has a paid plan with a 30 day trial that does not ask for a card. The trial does not turn into a paid subscription on its own: if you want to continue, you choose to.
Once billing is switched on, payments are handled by a third party payment processor and charged in advance for each period. You can cancel at any time and keep access until the period you paid for ends. If we put prices up we will give you at least 30 days notice by email.
What we promise, and what we do not
We will run the hosted service with reasonable care and tell you honestly when something has gone wrong. We do not promise it will never be unavailable, and we do not offer a guaranteed uptime figure on the current plans.
Gatewerk is a tool for recording human decisions. It does not make decisions for you and it is not a substitute for your own judgement, your own legal advice or your own compliance obligations. A signed record shows what a person decided. It does not make that decision correct.
To the extent the law allows, the service is provided as it is, and our liability to you is limited to what you paid us in the twelve months before the problem arose. Some places do not allow limits like that, and where that is true these words do not take away rights you have anyway.
Ending it
You can stop using the hosted service at any time. We can stop offering it, and if we do we will give you at least 60 days notice and a way to export your data. Since the software is open source, a shutdown of the hosted service does not take the product away from you: you can run the same thing yourself.
Law
These terms are governed by the laws of the State of Texas, United States, and disputes go to the courts there. If you are a consumer somewhere with stronger protections, this does not remove them.
Changes
We will post changes here and email account holders about anything significant. If you keep using the service after a change takes effect, that is your acceptance of it.
